A muslim is the one who submits his will to the will of his Creator and the Creator of the universe.
Who loves for his brother in humanity, what he loves for himself. Unnecessary worldly comfort and luxury does not distract him from doing what he is commanded to do, here in this world – calling people to the their Creator in most beautiful and peaceful way possible.
A true Muslim is the one who lives his life on minimal material necessities. As the Prophet of Humankind (peace be upon him) said,
“The best life is based on minimal material necessities.”
What inspirations can be taken from the Hadith above!?
You need more time for Almighty and to serve his servants
As Allah says in the Quran,
And I (Allah) did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. _Quran 51:56
Think of your possessions that drains out our valuable time, managing, using and taking care of them. When you own less you spend less time for those things. So owning less automatically gives you more time for the Almighty and to serve his servants!
You should be environmentally conscious
According to the Quran
Allah has made believers the stewards and protectors of the earth.
Living on minimal material necessities means using less resources for production, thus producing less waste. Which ultimately reduces environmental impact.
A Muslim should not be wasteful
And do not waste, for God does not love the wasteful. Quran 6:141
Living on minimal material necessities doesn’t mean living like a poor or being ungrateful to the blessings of Allah. But when you opt for living with the things that are actually necessary for your living, you may go for better quality products, that longs laster and are durable.
Your possessions are not yours only
Allah says in the Quran that A muslim has an obligation to spend on their dependents and needy.
